Meetings and gatherings have always been a challenge to me.Well, I am not a people person. My school reunion always puts me in a dilemma, whether to go or not.
Firstly, my batch has this quite rare possession of hosting reunions every other year.After we felt school, some enthusiastic friend created a whatsapp group SJS 2014. When I got added, first thing I did was to mute it. We wish each other on b’days. Sometimes ,some random classmate all of a sudden feels nostalgic about school and starts chatting in the group backed by two other. Sometimes, group members get into mild war. Someone leaves, someone gets added. I am just the spectator of my school story. Of all the things my school group does, one thing I liked the most is “ WE Support every idea posted in the group” . If not with full majority, at least half of us show up.
Example: Collecting fund for grocery distribution during lockdown,playing PUBG, cricket and our favourite hosting reunions .
We had our first reunion is 2016, most of our classmates showed up. We went to zoo and beach. I was hesitant at first, but it was one of the best days in my life. The thing with reunions is ,it's not about the place or the food. It's about the people with whom, you grew up with.
Next successful reunion was in 2019, when we all were in college.I regret, I couldn’t make it that day.It's more like a organised program than the previous one. With, hall, music, photographer and all.
Recently,we had our third reunion in 2020, the online version. It was funny, people kept joining the call till last moment , what was planned to be one hour call went on for more than three hours. We talked, laughed and took pics for status. For me, NOTHING CHANGED, it was still the people. My friends, some funny, some annoyed, some shouting, some listening. When I watched everything on screen mode,lunch during school just flashed my mind. Everyone blabbering something on their screens, some eating, some humming, some dozing off ,that’s school, that’s my childhood.
It's hard to find friends who trace back your childhood. So, plan a reunion every now and then ,to revisit your childhood.
